Success today

Julie's lung area was successfully drained today. Her chest X-ray on Monday showed that she had nearly 500 cc's of fluid in that area. Today, the interventional radiologist used an ultrasound to guide the needle into Julie's lung area to extract the fluid. By the time he finished, he had withdrawn nearly 900 cc's of fluid -- almost of liter! The fluid, according to the interventional radiologist, appeared to be old blood from the original pneumothorax Julie suffered as a result of the less than ideal port placement. However, the fluid is being sent to cytology to confirm.

Julie is feeling much better, she said it felt like pounds of weight were being removed from her lung. Thank you all for the prayers; we are praising Him for the smooth procedure and trusting Him continually.

We hope to have further info to share later this evening (ie. rest of the week)
