And now, back to fighting cancer

We are home from the hospital.

Julie's chest x-ray this afternoon showed that she still had moderate pneumothorax (i.e., her right lung is still partially collapsed as a result of the port placement), but the x-ray also showed that it was slightly improved from yesterday. Julie's surgeon said she was cleared to go home, she now is relaxing and doing some simple breath exercises so that her lung can get totally healed up. Thank you all for praying for us during this unexpected, and harrowing, ordeal. After the great PET scan results, we were really caught off-guard when we ended up in the hospital with a lung injury! But now we're home and getting Julie's lung back to 100%, and getting focused back on beating cancer.

This recent ordeal has altered our plans to be seen in Houston at MD Anderson. Due to Julie's lung injury, she cannot fly due to the pressurization. So, it appears we will probably get a local second opinion from either Vanderbilt or UT. Please pray specifically that we go to the right place.

While I'm thinking of it, please pray specifically for Julie's doctors: Dr. Lytle Brown (surgeon) and Dr. Daniel Ibach (oncologist). We are trusting in the Lord completely, and we know we must also place the requisite level of trust in the medical doctors who are assisting us in getting Julie cancer-free. Please pray for these men.

Julie is scheduled to have a lymph node biopsied on Monday, we will also be attempting to get that second opinion before starting chemo. We will continue to update this blog as we proceed next week. Again, we can't thank you enough for your prayers, thoughts and support!
