We received some clarity today. As you may recall, we opted to have Julie's blood genetically tested to see if she had the genetic mutation which make her susceptible to breast cancer. There are three possible results, as explained by the genetic counselor:
1. Positve (which indicates Julie carries the genetic mutation, this would raise instant concerns for our daughter, Madeline, and Julie's siblings)
2. Negative (which indicates that Julie does not have the genetic mutation)
3. Uncertain variant (i.e., cancer risk not fully defined), this is the most common result of this test.
All along this process, we've been asking the Lord for direction and clarity. We received some of that today in Julie's genetic testing results -- she is NEGATIVE for the genetic mutation. We are very thankful for this clear result. It is information that the oncologist can now factor into his treatment plan. Thank you all for the prayers, they are being heard!
