Surprising Pathology Report

Our oncologist called us late today with the pathology results from Julie's surgery. He was very pleased, and very surprised, at the findings contained in the pathology report.

First, the invasive ductal carcinoma measured 7 mm, the remainder was all ductal carcinoma in situ. The 7mm invasive tumor is far less than the 3 to 4 cm size that Julie's MRI indicated.

Second, Julie had 22 lymph nodes removed during her axillary dissection. Of the 22 nodes removed, only one - the sentinel node - tested positive for cancer! This, according to our oncologist, is extremely good news.

We will meet with our surgeon tomorrow for a follow-up and see when those drains can be removed. He will also address the continued concern involving Julie's lung. We plan to start the chemo next month.

These are all answered prayers, and we thank all of you for continuing to love and support us through this process. Hallelujah!!

  1. So excited for you! We have been praying that God would stop the growth of those cancer cells even before the treatment. Continuing to pray...
